The breed Havanese is originally from Cuba. They are a part of the Bichon family. Back in the day Havanese were never bred to sell, they were only bred and then given as gifts. And were only in the homes of the wealthy. In the 1970s a special lady by the name of Dorothy Goodale started the first Havanese Breeding program in the USA.
Havanese are very loyal to their owners, and extremely loving. Havanese are fantastic with children, and all forms of animals! They are naturally not a yappy dog, are rarely bark!
Havanese are non-shedding, hypo-allergenic, and are considered one of the best breeds for people with allergies.
Havanese are referred to as the golden retriever of the toy breeds. They are extremely intelligent and are very easy to train. They are a very well-rounded breed, and are very comfortable sitting on your lap all night cuddling as they are running and playing. They are an affectionate, happy dog with a lively, springy gait.
Havanese can come in an array of colors, including: White, Black, Gold, Champagne, Silver, Blue, Brown, Cream, Red, Sables, Brindles and Chocolate.
Havanese weight can range between 7lbs and 14lbs. And their height is between 8 to 12 inches at the shoulder.
